Medical Doctor

Main Purpose
Provide outpatient and/or inpatient medical care to patients/beneficiaries according to adapted and updated medical knowledge, ALIMA protocols, values and universal hygiene standards to improve the patients’ /beneficiaries health conditions. 

Accountabilities
  • Apply medical knowledge and skills to diagnose and prevention. Carry out outpatient and inpatient consultations, prescribing the necessary treatment respecting ALIMA protocols.
  • Keep the patient and/or his/her family informed about the illness and provide appropriate explanations about the treatment to follow, checking they have understood.
  • Follow up the evolution of the hospitalized/IDP patients, through daily visits, consultations and examinations, prescribing the necessary treatment following ALIMA protocols, deciding whether they can be discharged or transferred to other departments – in collaboration with other doctors- and informing their family about the patient’s evolution.
  • Check and control the rational distribution of medicines and equipment under his/her responsibility and take care the quality, disinfection and sterilization of the medical material. Assure general compliance with standing hygiene standards.
  • Participate in the collection and analysis of epidemiological data, checking its validity and informing the line manager or project coordinator about any problem or complication of the patients’ illness, medical error and monitors the proper functioning of the department, equipment or material.
  • Ensure ongoing training of the medical/paramedical multidisciplinary team in order to optimize the quality of care.
  • Knows and ensures all ALIMA medical protocols are followed and implemented, checking universal precautions are followed at all times and reducing bio-hazard risks and improving infection control. Ensures professional confidentiality is respected.
  • Manage the team under his/her direct responsibility according to ALIMA HR policies and procedures, supervising their performance, organizing and scheduling shifts and rotations, directly participating in emergencies and on calls if necessary.
Requirements

Education
 Medical Doctor diploma  Desirable diploma in Tropical Medicine (For OCB & OCBA Tropical Medicine Is essential)
Experience
2 year experience minimum as a Medical Doctor or in clinical work (can be within medical training). Desirable in tropical medicine, or post-registration experience in Public Health , obs and gynae, paediatrics, A&E, infectious diseases, HIV/AIDS/STDs, TB, general practice, general medicine or minor surgery.

Nurse

Main Purpose
Provide nursing care, treatment and follow-up of patients, according to doctors’ prescriptions, protocols applied in service and universal hygiene standards/precautions, in order to ensure the quality and continuity of care for the targeted population.
  Accountabilities
  • Know, promote, implement and follow at all times the universal hygiene standards/ precautions, bio-hazard prevention and infection control, security rules and other protocols and procedures in the medical premises and ensure high standards of hygiene of his/her working environment.
  • Organize and carry out care and treatments according to medical prescriptions, as well as assist them during consultations/ daily rounds and other medical procedures.

Main Purpose

Accountabilities

  • Implement all the protocols and hygiene procedures, and supervise his/her team follow the same standards, in order to warrant the quality of the care and service in his/her speciality.
  • Organize and coordinate the activities of his/her team (week’s schedule, annual leave, absences, etc.), evaluate their performance and define and ensure the needs for training of staff, in order to ensure the coverage of the human resources needs and maintain high standards of quality.

Main Purpose

 Main Purpose

Provide obstetrical care to pregnant women and their babies, doing follow up before, during and after delivery, according to ALIMA obstetrical and reproductive health protocols, universal hygienic and new-born caring standards and under supervision of a specialist doctor, in order to ensure their health conditions and avoid post-delivery complications.

Accountabilities
  • Ensure the implementation and continuity of antenatal and postnatal care, family planning, obstetrical care (BEmONC[1] and CEmONC[2]), neonatal and comprehensive abortion care, management of victims of sexual violence, reproductive tract infections and Fistula care in accordance with MSF Reproductive Core Package of Activities and reinforce the implementation of standardised protocols.
  • WherePMTCT is implemented, ensure implementation of the PMTCT protocol in the ANC/delivery and PNC consultations (pre counselling, test and post counselling
  • Collaborate with the medical doctor and /or nurse in the management of Sexual Violence cases
  • Assess the feasibility for referral of pregnant women form the TBAs to the OPD/MCH for medical evaluation and/or complicated deliveries.
  • Ensure hygiene and sterilization criteria (including universal precautions) are met according to ALIMA specifications.
  • Guarantee a regular and ongoing supply of drugs and equipment required for maternity activities (including monitoring/consumption control/ordering of orders.
  • Properly follow up all new-born babies from delivery until discharge, informing mothers and relatives about importance of breast feeding, vaccination and possible complications resulting from harmful traditional practices.
  • Ensure patients’ right to privacy and confidentiality is respected
  • Ensure that administrative procedures of admissions and hospitalizations comply with ALIMA protocols, as well as verify patients are properly informed and receive the documents required (birth certificate, vaccination card, e.t.c
  • Participate in the organisation of the ward in collaboration with other midwifes and the maternity ward supervisor. Ensure transfer of relevant information to the next shift team (specially identifying risk cases)
According to ALIMA protocols in force, conduct normal deliveries independently Manage obstetric emergencies; identify cases needing referral and send them in time, clean up the new-born, executing and registering first neo-natal medical acts (cutting and cleaning the umbilical cord, vaccination, etc.), detecting possible anomalies/infections of the new-born and reporting them to the doctor, in order to ensure successful interventions Supervises the use of drugs, facilities and obstetric material, in order to ensure, in accordance with number of patients and prescriptions, a rational use as well as pharmacy stock levels are permanently updated, kept under appropriate conditions and above minimum safety point.

Main Purpose

Accountabilities

Assessment of activities
Identify the needs and means to improve the reproductive health care (BEmONC and CEmONC) in the ALIMA supported health facility in Monguno.

Implementation and Monitoring of Activities
  •  Provide support to the recruitment procedures if needed (New staffs);
  •  In collaboration with the Medical Referent and the rest of the medical team, and other actors implements and monitors reproductive health activities according to the universal standards procedures and protocols;
